There may be need for 2 set of plans, 1 for installation and one for moving.

ANSI/BIFMA X5.9 - Storage Units

ANSI/BIFMA M7.1 - Standard Test Method For Determining VOC Emissions from office Furniture Systems, components and seating.

ANSI/BIFMA/ X7.1 - A Standard for formaldehyde and TVOC Emissions of Low emitting office furniture system and seating.

Interior Designer is to write purchase orders for furniture and coordinate delivery/installation

Trade Sources-
       - Sales representatives - (REPS) Represent the manufacturer to the client.

Two types of Reps:
Factory Reps/ Manufacturer Reps
       - Work directly for one company

Independent Reps
        - Work for themselves or for a small sales group.
        - often represent several products.

Dealerships-
    - may represent one or more manufacturers
    - example.) A dealership may provide space planning services for an office tenant.

Showrooms-
      - Primary purpose is to display samples.

* When Interior Designer resells furniture to a client they need a resale license.

Mart-
    - A building that contains many different showrooms for the design trade.

Manufacturers-
     - Produce products the interior designer specifies.


PROCURMENT PROCESS
-After furniture is purchased and specified

3 Routes to choose frome:

1: Give Furn. Specs to Dealer. Dealer writes purchase order.

2: Interior Designer acts as a purchasing agent. Interior Designer writes purchase order.

3: Designer Acts as reseller of goods. Interior Designer writes purchase order.

STEPS AFTER FURNITURE HAS BEEN SELECTED

1: Recieve sales agreement or contract proposal signed by clien.

2: Purchase order is written.

3: 1 copy of PO goes to Vendor (the original)

4:After manufacturer receives the PO they send the designer an acknowledgment or confirmation.

5: When Manufacturer ships merchandise, they normally also send an invoice to the designer.

6: Bill of Loading- Paper Shipped with the merchandise.

7: Packing List - A detailed list of the number and description of items in the shipment will be sealed in an envelope attached to one of the items.

8: Freight Bill- Invoice from shipping company.
